And I’m off! This moning, I’m driving to the Erma Bombeck Writer’s Workshop in Dayton Ohio! Yippppeeeee! Classes don’t actually start until tomorrow, but there is a meet-n-greet this evening (Wednesday). So … I’ll cut this short.
I hope to meet my kind of people in Dayton. After all, four hundred other writers who admire the late Erma Bombeck will be there. I’ve been communicating with most of them via a private Facebook group ever since tickets went on sale on December 1st (tickets sold out in 6 hours). One participant swears she willingly sacrificed two goats and a chicken for her admittance.
I worried a little about what I should wear when I met my sisters in writing. After all, my style is best described as “I only care about comfort.” I asked an open question regarding appropriate attire on the Facebook page, and a participant who has attended in previous years answered: “On the first day, I wear business casual. By the second day I’m braless, but it’s hardly noticeable thanks to a heavy, oversized sweater. By the third day, we’re talking sweats and bunny slippers.”
Yep. I think I’m finally going to meet my tribe.
