WOW guys – what an age we live in! Below is a beautiful story about a cool usage for 3D printing.
A young, blind, pregnant woman was able to “feel/see” a 3D print of her baby’s face depicted FROM HER ULTRASOUND!!! How cool is that?! Here’s the video:
In addition to the above story, I want to mention an anesthesia tool that will probably only be appreciated by my nerdy anesthesia colleagues. The CoPilot VL was designed by two CRNA’s who also used 3D printing for their prototypes. I was able to speak with the scope’s inventors, Jay Tydlaska & Amy Bateman, at the AANA convention in Utah in August, and Amy said that some 3D prototypes were in her hands within two weeks of design submission. I was so blown away—not only that the 3D item could be made—but in such a short time. I mean, she could just as well have told me that the Martians had landed!
